11TH NYIBC TO TAKE PLACE IN 2013
The Board of Directors of New York International Ballet Competition (NYIBC), announces that the 11th NYIBC will take place at the Rose Theater/Lincoln Center in June 2013 celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the founding of NYIBC by Ilona Copen and Igor Youskevitch. The organization was founded in 1983 and the first public event was held in 1984 in New York City.
Since the February 2010 passing of Ilona Copen, the NYIBC Board of Directors and Artistic Board created the Ilona Copen Award, presented for the first time to Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Patricia McBride in a Gala celebrating the life and work of Ms. Copen. The unforgettable evening of dance showcased dancers, including several alumni, from seven acclaimed companies: American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble, The Joffrey Ballet, Limón Dance Company, New Jersey Ballet and North Carolina Dance Theatre.
